Larnarka is a port city on the south coast of Cyprus.
It’s known for Finikoudes Beach, a sandy strip in the city center backed by a palm-lined seaside promenade. Buzzing bars line the waterfront at Mackenzie Beach. Just offshore, the MS Zenobia wreck is a popular dive site. The 9th-century Church of Saint Lazarus contains the tomb of the saint said to have risen from the dead.
Overlooking the Mediterranean, the medieval fortress of Larnaca Castle serves as an open-air theater and local history museum. It displays old weapons, early Christian artifacts and Ottoman pottery. The Pierides Museum has a vast collection of archaeology exhibits dating back to Neolithic times. Kyriazis Medical Museum charts the development of Cypriot medicine from medieval surgical tools to early X-ray machines. Larnaca Salt Lake is encircled by nature trails and populated by flocks of flamingoes. On its west shore, the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque holds the tomb of Umm Haram, a sacred female Islamic figure.
