Kato Paphos,Cyprus – A holiday with many attractions .. Beautiful Aerial Video

Paphos is a city on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Inhabited since Neolithic times, it has several sites relating to the cult of goddess Aphrodite, whose mythical birthplace was at Old Paphos (Kouklia). New Paphos is the modern city that incorporates the harbor, and the ancient ruins of tombs, fortresses, theaters and villas at Paphos Archaeological Park.

The villas within the archaeological park have mosaics depicting scenes from Greek mythology. Burial chambers at the Tomb of the Kings date to the 4th century B.C. Nearby, Agia Solomoni Church has catacombs and 12th-century frescoes. Once a Byzantine fort, Paphos Castle guards the town’s harbor. Agia Paraskevi is a 5-domed Byzantine church in Yeroskipou. Paphos’ resort district, Kato, has sand and shingle beaches, and there are further resorts along the coast. At Old Paphos, Aphrodite’s Rock is a sea stack where, reputedly, the goddess emerged from the sea.
